[OPEN] HTML Editor Strips aria-description attribute

Canvas

Engineers are currently investigating the issue.

Description

The Rich Content Editor HTML Editor is currently stripping the aria-description attribute. This is preventing users with screen readers from having those fields announced, and mainly impacting users interacting with the Panopto External Tool.

Expected Behavior

The aria-description attribute should not be getting stripped by the RCE since it goes against accessibility guidelines.

Workaround

Use another HTML attribute that we currently support

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisite: Have HTML Code that contains the aria-description attribute

  1. Go to any page that interacts with the RCE.

  1. Open the HTML editor, and paste the HTML code containing the aria-description attribute, and save.

  1. Edit the page and return to the HTML editor. See how the aria-description attribute was stripped.
