Media comment uploads to the wrong student when navigating to a different student during upload
This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 10/09/24.
Description
Multiple institutions reported, that when you record a media comment in the speedgrader for student A, and navigate to student B before the upload finishes, the video gets posted for student B.
-
Note: You have to have a really slow upload speed to be able to replicate this.
-
Also, we have a warning that tells you that navigating away will save this comment as a draft, however, clicking proceed does not save the media comment as draft, it still posts it for student B.
Expected Behavior
The video should get saved as a draft for the initial student.
Workaround
No workaround exists at this time.
Steps to Reproduce
Prereq: A course with two student enrollments, an assignment, really bad internet speed.
-
Navigate to the speedgrader page of the assignment, and start creating a media comment.
-
Let the recording run for at least 2-5 minutes, but the longer the media is, the better your chances are to repro.
-
Click save on the recording, click X in the top right of the upload pop up, and quickly navigate to the next student. When you get the warning pop up, click proceed.
-
See that the video you recorded for Student A, got posted to Student B.
