Here are some quick thoughts about this morning's keynote!

This morning's keynote was by Marc Prensky, who's written some books and coined the term "digital native." I was really excited to hear him speak because I wrote a lot of papers about digital natives in grad school, so it was really nice to see all of that come full circle.

The real takeaway for me from Marc's talk was that we need to start really focusing on how we can answer that classic question students ask which is, "Why am I doing this?" So we need to start moving away from what think of as classical academics, that rote memorization and kind of one-sided read and respond type of learning and move toward a more experiential real-world problem and project-based type of learning.

I think that the more that we can kind of bridge the divide between the real world and the classroom, the better we'll be as educators, as learners, and as citizens of the world. I'm excited to look a little more closely at what Marc has done and learn more from everyone here at the conference.
