My first Learning Hero jumped to mind immediately when Mimo Ito asked us to identify someone in our life who impacted us in a memorable and empowering way. Many of us may have gravitated to education as a career because someone in our past sparked that feeling of passion and importance when they were our teacher. The person who inspired me is no longer alive, several times in the last decade I have wished that I had expressed my appreciation to them. I know that I have felt a more than typical connection as a mentor to several students and hope that I am making a difference in their lives.
