I Would like to see my agenda/sessions I have selected as a list - not click into each time to see the selection.
More like the app Guidebook delivers. Much easier to navigate and see at a glance who is presenting, what session is on and where one needs to be.
IT would be really nice to be able to download the events so I can add them to the calendar. And I agree with Garry, this display isn't helpful. I at least need a list.
While not the most convenient you can go to the session's page and click the calendar icon on the right to get an ics file that most calendar apps can import.
Hey gcase - great feedback!
Unfortunately Jive (this community platform) does not allow you to sort events by the time of it's occurrence, which is why we designed this custom page to provide you with quick links, based on time. Another great way to see where you want to be, and when is to check out the AGENDA (instcon15) and click the LOCATION button. If you're at the Grand Summit and you want to see what's up next, just click the applicable time slot, beneath Grand Summit header and see the sessions that are coming up there. Or you could look at the Daily schedule to see what's going on at any given time, per location - THURSDAY (instcon15)
But here's are a couple links that, based on your feedback, should be helpful for you:
Further, please note that all I've done is pre-selected some filters, from the "CONTENT" area of InstructureCon 2015
You can do your own filtering of sessions/events by following these instructions - How do I search and filter content in the community?
You can use their present filters and then add additional "tags" to further filter. This should allow you to drill down to your sessions in the way that makes most sense for you. Here are the main filters available for sorting: (all tags)
I hope this helps as you are preparing/planning for the sessions you will visit tomorrow (THURSDAY)

Hey Kyle, I just responded to Garry above... hopefully that feedback will be helpful - https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-3841?et=watches.email.document_comment#comment-10392
I forgot to mention @kyle_johnson whenever you visit an event, you can export it to your calendar - Screenshot
Unfortunatley the "event" tool that Jive (this community platform) provides is in beta still. Definitely some more features to be desired! 😉
That's great but not available in the mobile view. Basically this fails the "mobile first" test we use for apps at our institution. I think this would all be much better if we had an event app instead of trying to make Community solve a problem it for which it wasn't designed.
Hey Kyle, try holding your device in landscape mode and it should work for you.
Here's a screenshot from my mobile device...
We really wanted all the sessions in the community so that people could discuss the events, share files and resources and connect with others more deeply.
JIve definitely had had its weaknesses but we developed the instcon site with mobile in mind every step of the way 😉
After switching to landscape and side scrolling around, I finally found the calendar link. Unfortunately it doesn't work reliably. Sometimes it'll sort of add the event to my calendar, sometimes it tries to invite me and then Safari freezes. And I can almost never get it on the calendar I actually want.
I I understand your desire to use Community, but this fails to easily answer a basic question for me. What's next and where do I need to be? Right now I have to know whether the next thing is a general session or breakout. Then I have to find the right place on the site, click around to the right date and time, and then the event details. All the work just to see what's next is, in my opinion, not worth the nine comments for all the sessions I've been to.
You should have setup live streaming of the events so we can at least view ones that were too full.
@learym1 last year they recorded all of the sessions and posted them to their YouTube channel a few weeks after the conference was over. I have no idea if they are going to do that again this year, but I hope so
All sessions will be posted to our Youtube channel within the next couple weeks... so SUBSCRIBE 😉
