Thanks everyone who attended the session today. I wanted to share a couple of badge designing sites that can make that part of the process a little bit easier. (Just remember to add your image as the base/background file in the badge designer in Canvabadges to ensure your badge will go cleanly to Mozilla Backpack.)

Makebadges - the badge design tool for schools - by Makewaves (super easy and simple.)

OpenBadges.me  (the same platform used in Canvabadges, but sometimes this interface is a little easier to use.)

ClassBadges (templates, preloaded images, wicked easy)

DONE: Was able to view your presentation. Installed the App. Got the shared secert etc for the eternal tool.

NOT DONE: And now am stuck. I tried following the presentation from this point forward but am obviously missing the narration   :-0

Any chance you can link to some detailed instructions on how to get a badge to show up...

Jared,

I attended your session and have successfully installed the canvabadges app. However, I am unable to make the badges visible in the student profiles. I tried linking to https://www.canvabadges.org/canvas_profile_badges.js  which I found on the community. It did not work. I also tried linking to our global js script and that did not work. I am at a loss. Would it be possible to make a little screencast that walks me through the correct setup? I am sure it is something I am doing incorrectly.

I did finally figure this all out. All badges working! YEY

Never mind, we were able to get this to work. The piece we were missing is that the student must choose to display the badge in their profile. Once that was selected the badges displayed. Alane

I made a set of blank badges that can be used in any Canvas course and customized with any title using the badge designer in Canvabadges. Would love to get feedback from anyone who might still be following this page:

Hey  @jward , I'd like to suggest that you (with all that free time you have) head over to the Instructional Designers​ group and create a simple blog post to summarize your session.

From what I heard it was one of those "standing room only" session which shows there's a lot of interest in what you shared. Perhaps you could include the resources you shared at the top of this thread, and also, possibly a .zip file of those badges you designed!

Maybe wait to post your blog entry once your Instcon Video is live so you can embed a link to that as well!
