We are enhancing the DAP CLI developer experience by improving progress visibility, error messaging, documentation, and authentication workflows. This will empower data engineers, analysts, and admins to work faster, troubleshoot with confidence, and onboard more easily, ultimately reducing friction in data workflows and driving greater adoption of the DAP platform.

What's new?

We are delivering a comprehensive usability update for the DAP CLI, including:
• Progress and status updates during long-running tasks to improve user confidence.
• Clear, actionable error messages for faster troubleshooting.
• Updated inline documentation (man pages) to make learning and reference easier for new and existing users.
• Simplified, more intuitive authentication workflows to better support non-technical users.

These improvements will reduce setup time, lower support burden, and make daily data tasks more efficient for our customers.

Why is it valuable?

Currently, the DAP CLI’s limited task visibility, vague error messages, and outdated documentation create unnecessary barriers for users. With these improvements, developers and analysts will gain clearer guidance, faster troubleshooting capabilities, and more intuitive authentication, especially benefiting less technical users. This results in increased productivity, faster onboarding, and fewer support tickets, aligning with our goal to make data access and management as seamless as possible.
