The New Impact Training Course
Through a partnership between the Learning Analytics and On-Demand Learning Services teams, the Impact Academy recently went through a complete makeover in order to refresh both the content and course design. It is now called the Impact Training Course. This blog will walk you through exactly what it is, the reasoning behind the redesign, and how to get your hands on the course yourself.
What is it and why a new course?
Course Overview
The purpose of this course is to help reinforce learning that takes place both during and after implementation. The Modules structure was strategically built around the foundational components of Impact as well as the 3 Pillars: messaging, support, and insights. Through this course design, users will first gain understanding of how Impact collects data and places messages. The following modules then take that knowledge of how Impact works and applies it across the the main features of the product.
So why a new course?
Like all of our products here at Instructure, Impact is always growing. And because of that, the Impact course needed a revamp in order to reflect that growth. Unlike its predecessor, this course offers updated and maintained training content that will stay relevant for many years to come.
How does it differ from the Impact Academy?
Updated Content
The biggest difference between the two courses is the fact the new Impact Training Course is maintained by the Learning Services On-Demand team. Because of this, the course will undergo periodic updates to reflect major changes changes to Impact. This is vital when it comes to keeping all Impact administrators up to date with the newest and greatest features of the product.
Strategic Course Design
The second major difference is course design. The new Impact Training Course takes a progressive teaching approach to help Impact administrators understand the purpose, possibilities, and potential of the product. It focuses on the foundational components of Impact before ever diving into the 3 Pillars (messaging, support, and insights). This course design takes all users into account. This includes new administrators that may have no Impact training whatsoever.
How is the course accessed?
Once purchased, the course will be placed in your Canvas Training Services Portal(TSP) and will be visible to all administrators. The following video walks you through exactly how to access the course once it is added to your TSP.
Okay, this is awesome! How do I get it?
The Impact Training Course is sold on a subscription basis. Through this subscription, all administrators have access and can work through the course as many times as they would like.
To purchase the course, let your Impact CSM know and they can get the ball rolling!
