Hi!
Let's talk confetti. For those using the feature for confetti displaying when an assignment is submitted on time, what is your rationale for enabling this feature?
Do you find it has an impact on student learning in a positive way? What benefits do you see of this feature at your institution, if any?
Thanks!
Evan
I can only speak from a student standpoint about this, but the confetti offers a nice pat on the back for me and my fellow students. We especially appreciate the fact that different items are rained down in the confetti, and we often brag to the others about whatever we received that day. The more abstract the item, the better we tend to like it. To be honest, I really wish there were more options in that area.
I know it serves little purpose, but that little purpose sometimes can create internal satisfaction, which can often drive us in ways we tend to overlook. Granted, the confetti hardly drives me to turn in my assignments on time, but I often theorize that the items within the confetti change in accordance to how early they are. I like to get the ninjas. I like to infer that that means I was incredibly fast at my assignment. How fast? Ninja fast.
Great answer @WendellDuncan - Thanks for adding to the conversation.
@ewest Learners young and older love confetti; it's a little jolt of joy to the day! Loved it so much that I petitioned Canvas to create confetti for elevated users (if you get a clean link validator and you have Canvas confetti enabled, you can get confetti too). There's a whole side of TikTok (and elsewhere on the socials) where students share their Canvas Confetti. Some instructors have created Confetti bingo, where each type of confetti is placed within bingo sheet blocks and the students play different bingo games (regular bingo rules, four corners etc.) or "collect them all." Some students look forward to the confetti, which you only get if you turn assignments on-time.

Duncan,
I love the confetti thing too. I wonder why it doesn't do it when you turn your assignment in late? if your instructor has permitted you to dos o it should still give the confetti animation. just sayin.
