Notifications about new Discussion Replies can get overwhelming, and so I suspect many students turn them off. The new threads organization offers an opportunity to truly make Discussions better learning vehicles. Adding "Subscribe to Thread" in the vertical ellipses edit menu (see screenshot) would allow students (or others) to be updated when a Reply is made to their content. Perhaps, this could even be set as the default?!
