In Discussions redesign, are all topics forever threaded?

Pre-Redesign, when creating a topic I would choose whether it was going to be threaded or else a traditional one of limited depth. That option seems to be gone now. Does this mean all topics are now threaded and there's no choice in the matter?

(I like the elegance of the threaded model, but in practice my students abuse it by posting new questions really deep in the previous discussions.)
