As far as I can tell there currently isnt a way to get the account settings using Canvas Data 2 but I would love to be corrected.
I can see that the genuine Canvas backend has a feature_flag table for this as well as a settings column in the accounts table, neither of which are available in canvas data 2.
Is there another way to get this information, or can we get those data points added? is there a roadmap for different data sets being included in CD2?
Hello @samuel_malcolm!
CD2 Product Manager here. What is your use case for getting sub accounts settings? While I'm not entirely sure what you are looking for, checking out Canvas API might be helpful. For example "Get the sub-accounts of an account"
To answer your last question: I'm hosting a monthly CD2 online meetup where I share the latest roadmap for CD2 and attendees can ask questions live. Here is the last one, however the requested tables and columns are not part of it currently. If you can share why would it be important to add and there is a wide need for that we can consider adding them.
Thanks for your reply. Basically our institution is running a project to try and simplify the sub account structure across the organisation. It's a big organisation and currently the sub account structure is a bit of a mess. Im hoping to profile the accounts based on its differences, ie im trying to understand at scale which accounts have unique roles, unique admins, and unique feature configs. To get a better picture of what we are dealing with.
We would also love to see this data available in CD2. We have over 600 sub-accounts, and using the API is a bit tedious to be able to find things like "get all of the accounts that have feature X enabled". Especially if you then want to use that as a subquery in a larger CD2 query; you have to fetch a bunch of data via the API first, and then use that to build a query that you can run in the CD2 database. This means the analyst needs to be facile with both API programming and SQL, and it makes the workflow much more complicated.

This is exactly what im hoping to do, good to hear im not alone
Same for us!
We have added this to our 2025 roadmap. Is there anyone who would be joining for a 30 minutes roadmap review call?
