No matter how you participate in the Instructure Community, we’re happy to have you here! Whether you’re a brand-new member or a long-time contributor, personalizing your profile is a great first step in making your experience more enjoyable and engaging.

By customizing your profile, you’ll make it easier for others to connect with you—and you’ll feel more at home. Let’s get started and make your profile truly yours!

Profile Personalization

Your profile is your digital identity within the Instructure Community. Personalizing it helps you stand out and makes it easier for others to connect with you.

To get started, click on your profile picture or avatar in the top-right corner of the screen, then select “Profile.” From here, you can edit your name, bio, and other important details. A friendly bio that shares a bit about who you are—your role, interests, or passions—makes a great first impression and humanizes the learning experiences we all share!

An avatar or profile picture helps people recognize you within the community. Upload a photo that represents you—whether it’s a professional headshot or something more casual; make it yours! A photo puts a face to the name and fosters a sense of connection.

As your professional journey evolves, you may want to update your profile to reflect your latest interests and contributions. Your profile is a living part of your Instructure Community experience, and you can edit it anytime!

Updating Account Preferences

Your experience in the Instructure Community should be as personalized as possible. With just a few tweaks, you can adjust your preferences to ensure you’re notified about the content you care about, exactly the way you want.

Want to stay updated on specific discussions but avoid being overwhelmed with emails? Need to adjust your timezone or set preferences for the types of content you automatically follow? No problem! In your account settings, you can customize how you receive notifications, how content is sorted, and much more. While it may seem like there are many options, it’s worth taking the time to explore and fine-tune your preferences to suit your needs!

Ranking Up

The Instructure Community is built on connection and participation, and as you engage with others, you’ll begin to level up your profile. Here’s how the ranking system works and how you can earn more recognition.

As you contribute to discussions, share insights, and interact with others, you’ll earn ranks. These ranks represent your involvement and highlight your contributions. For example, you might start as a New Member and progress to roles like Contributor or Champion as your activity increases. Each rank comes with added permissions, and as your rank grows, others will likely recognize you as someone to connect and collaborate with.

Ranking up is easy when you get involved! One simple way is to “like” content. This small gesture encourages others and shows you’re actively reading what is shared in the Community. You can also reply to open-ended discussions, respond to others’ technical questions, share helpful resources, or share about something happening at your school, institution, or organization. The more you participate and contribute, the more you’ll see your rank improve. (You’ll also earn some badges along the way!) It’s a fun, rewarding way to see your impact on the Instructure Community!
