There’s something special about finding a space where you just click with others—and in the Instructure Community, that’s exactly what Hubs and Groups are designed for.

Whether you’re an educator, admin, instructional designer, or simply exploring new ideas, these spaces connect you with others who share your goals, challenges, and passions. From product-specific discussions and data deep-dives to accessibility resources and feature collaboration, there’s truly a place for everyone.

In 2024 alone, over 495,000 Community members participated in one or more groups. That’s a powerful network of shared insight, support, and innovation!

Let’s explore how to find, join, and make the most of these collaborative spaces in the Instructure Community.

What Are Hubs and Groups?

In the Instructure Community, Hubs and Groups are designed to help you connect with the people, products, and topics that matter most to you. Here’s a quick breakdown of the different types of spaces you’ll find:

  • Product Hubs – These include spaces like Canvas LMS, Canvas Studio, Mastery Connect, and Impact. Each Hub is consistently organized so you can easily find guides, resources, blogs, and discussions related to that specific product.
  • Role-Based Hubs – Whether you’re an Admin, Instructor, or Developer, these Hubs offer curated content tailored to your role within Canvas LMS. You’ll find resources and conversations that are most relevant to your day-to-day work.
  • Interest Groups – Looking to connect with others passionate about Accessibility, AI in Education, Mental Wellness, or Free for Teacher? These groups bring together members around common themes, roles, or initiatives—even across different products.

Some Groups are open to everyone, while others (like our Feature User Groups) are request-to-join. These more focused spaces are perfect for beta testing, pilot programs, or ongoing collaboration.

Why Should I Join a Group?

Community members love these spaces for a variety of reasons, but a few benefits come up time and time again:

  • Learn from others with similar use cases, roles, or interests
  • Access curated resources and conversations on the topics you care about
  • Contribute feedback, ideas, and lessons learned
  • Feel a deeper sense of connection within the broader Instructure Community

Once you’ve joined an Interest Group or Feature User Group, you can:

  • Start a discussion – ask a question, share an idea, or kick off a conversation
  • Reply to and like other posts
  • Share your own insights by publishing a blog
  • Follow blog posts or stay looped in on ongoing initiatives

Each time you engage, you’re not just learning—you’re helping others grow too!

Did you know? After you join a group, it will be added to your personalized My Groups list. It's available to you when after clicking Groups tab in the top navigation menu.

You're All Set!
