Regarding videos, can I edit captions in a course, without affecting the master video in the main studio? I need to add captions in different languages to different courses. Or is it better to make copies of the videos in the main studio and do separate captioning there? Thanks.

Many thanks Chris. That's what I thought might need to happen to. Thanks for confirming this.

Hi @RobynClark ...
I did a little bit of testing. In my own Studio library, I selected a video I had uploaded (which was also embedded in a couple of my sandbox courses). I had English captions already generated, but I was able to add Spanish (as an example) captions, too. However, when viewing the video through Studio (clicking on the video within Studio), I have a "My Library" drop-down list right below the video (but above the "Details", "Comments", "Insights" and "Captions" tabs). It seems that the Spanish captions I added apply not only to the "master" within "My Library", but they are also part of the two sandbox courses.
Is there a specific reason that you would want one language available for one course but not another? Would you be open to having all your languages available for all courses in question?
I hope this information will be helpful in some way.
Hi @Chris_Hofer
Thanks so much for your reply. We are delivering a course in Chinese and one in Vietnamese. Having multiple language options on a video wouldn't work for us in this case - due to the structure of the course. Appreciate your help.
Thanks again
Robyn
Hi @RobynClark ...
Thanks for the additional information. In your case, you may need to have multiple versions of the video in your Studio Library. Then, add captions for each version separately. Embed the appropriate videos in each course based on language. I know this might not be the most ideal, but it would work for your needs.
Many thanks Chris. That's what I thought might need to happen to. Thanks for confirming this.
