This document outlines common icons used in multiple areas of Canvas.
InstUI iconography is curated by Canvas designers to ensure consistency in meaning throughout the interface. This document outlines common meanings for icons that are utilized in multiple areas of Canvas.
Assignment Icon
The Assignment icon represents assignments in Canvas. In some cases, the icon is used to represent any type of coursework that students may complete, including quizzes, discussions, and external tool assignments.

Visibility Icon
The Visibility icon, also known as the Eye icon, includes multiple variations throughout Canvas. This icon represents the visibility of a component. The icon displays a slash to represent a component being hidden in some capacity.

The Warning icon identifies items that may need special attention in Canvas.

The black warning Icon [1] notifies you that the final score does not include one or more assignment groups because they have zero points possible. Click the icon to view the excluded assignment group(s). This icon only displays in the Total column related to assignment group errors. The red warning icon [2] notifies you that the entered grade is not supported in the grading scheme. Canvas also displays an invalid grade warning message when an invalid grade is entered. |
