Feature Options
Feature options allow institutions to enable newly developed Canvas functionality according to their preferred time frame. Unless otherwise noted, all feature options are opt-in and do not require any action by a Canvas admin until a feature's enforcement date is announced. For a complete list of feature options, please see Canvas LMS Feature Options.
A feature preview label indicates a feature option in active development, which is being built directly through user feedback. Feature previews deploy updates outside the regular Canvas release schedule and are posted in the Related Releases section in Canvas Releases & Deploys.
Please reference the table below each feature heading for specific feature information. For general information about feature options, please see the Canvas Release Notes FAQ.

Summary
On the Account level External Apps page, admins can toggle placements for LTI 1.3 tools. Additionally, when the feature option is enabled, tools added directly at the course level have the ability to toggle LTI 1.3 tool placements from the Course External Apps page for users with the Manage LTI permission.
Change Benefit
The ability to toggle placements for LTI 1.3 tools gives admins greater control, addressing concerns related to default tool settings by allowing them to manage tool visibility more effectively.
Feature Workflow
At the Account Level, the Allow LTI Placement Toggling feature option is enabled by default.
When the Allow LTI Placement Toggling feature is enabled, admins can enable or disable available placements for LTI 1.3 tools.
Additional Details
When the developer keys at the root account are updated, placements are updated to match the developer key placement. Additionally, inherited keys updated by Instructure will also update the LTI placement to match the inherited key.
