Canvas Deploy Notes (2023-08-16)

Canvas deploys contain code changes that are intended to fix bugs, improve performance, and prepare for new features. These deploys take place every two weeks and can be tested in the beta environment before the production deploy date indicated in the title of this document.

Deploy notes indicate notable changes in the deploy by feature. To view functionality according to user role, please see Canvas Features by User Role.

Summary

In the Inbox, when composing a message to all members with a specific user role in a course, the number of users in that specific role displays.

Change Benefit

This update allows users to view how many people will receive the message in a specific user role.

Multi-Factor Authentication Field Update

Summary

When configuring Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), the Verification Code field allows spaces to be entered.

Change Benefit

This update improves the user experience by no longer rejecting the entered code when spaces are provided with the code.

When entering the Verification Code, users can enter the code with or without spaces.

Additional Details

Many OTP apps provide one-time access codes with a space in the middle, previously Canvas rejected the code if spaces were provided.
