Canvas Deploy Notes (2020-04-25)
Deploys currently take place weekly to align with temporarily deploy adjustments as announced in COVID-19 Updates to Canvas Releases and Deploys
Canvas deploys contain code changes that are intended to fix bugs, improve performance, and prepare for new features, but they do not affect customer workflows. These deploys take place every two weeks and can be tested in the beta environment before the production deploy date indicated in the title of this document. Intended changes in workflow are noted in the Canvas Release Notes published monthly.
Deploy notes may include notable fixed bugs, bugs included in the Canvas Known Issues list, and additional updates that do not affect user functionality.

Interface Updates
Responsive Layout Adjustments
Multiple locations within Canvas have received responsive design adjustments for mobile browser widths. The majority of adjustments ensure accessibility for all users and correct unintentional behaviors such as overlapping text and icons. Other adjustments added responsive functionality to Canvas admin and user settings.
These adjustments can be managed individually as feature options until the 18 July 2020 release and are categorized in three areas:
Each link above references commit titles and Github links included within each feature option.
Canvas Whitelisting
Email IP Addresses
Two IP addresses have been added to the static Canvas IP addresses list as linked in Canvas Whitelisting.
LDAP Servers
One Virginia LDAP server has been removed from the Canvas LDAP addresses list as linked in Canvas Whitelisting.
Fixed Bugs |
Conferences
Students and Shared Notes Link
Students can view a link to shared notes included in a conference recording.
Explanation: When a recorded conference included shared notes, the Notes link did not appear for students. This behavior did not affect instructors. Canvas code has been updated to display the Notes link to students.
Rich Content Editor
Audio Media Comments
Audio media comments save correctly in Canvas.
Explanation: When an audio-only media comment was recorded using the Rich Content Editor, the comment linked to a zero-second video. In the New Rich Content Editor, a link named Link was embedded but did not contain any data about the media comment. Canvas code has been updated to save comments correctly, especially in Firefox and Chrome.
New Rich Content Editor
Embedded Media Uploads
Users who try to leave a page are notified if embedded media has not been completely uploaded.
Explanation: When a media file was embedded in the New Rich Content Editor, the media upload was not always able to be completed, though the user was not aware the upload had not been completed. Canvas code has been updated to notify the user if the user tries to leave the page while media is uploading. If the upload fails, the page generates an error message.
