no notification window in Canvas, no ability to customize notifications

first off, i was directed to Canvas Ideas to share feedback but there is no way to post there. (ironically, my criticisms are about how awful unhelpful the Canvas interface is).
on to my feedback: every platform (including this one) has a notification bell at the top right where you can see relevant updates, but NOT the Canvas classroom. Facebook, Instagram, Skool, even FAFSA have notifications on their interface but not Canvas.
i do not want to receive email notifications but there is literally no other way to get updates.
i would like to customize those email notifications so that i only receive updates regarding when someone responds to my posts or my responses. instead, i get emails that say, "35 classmates have posted in this assignment." it's so broad to the point of being totally irrelevant.
it seems like Canvas went out of its way to remove features that are standard on all other platform. extremely unhelpful and frustrating, especially when our grades depend on tracking conversations and responses.
