file upload restrictions. when I add file upload restrictions, I am guessing the student can only upload the MS word extensions i added or others. So, this will prevent the student from using an other file upload types Correct?

Yes when you have a file upload question and limit the extension that can be uploaded, only files with that extension can be uploaded.

You can select as many as you want just separate them by commas - also no periods are allowed.  in other words it is txt,doc,docx if you want .txt, .doc or .docx files to be uploaded.

where it has a link to the available file extensions.  I believe your admins can add other file extensions that can be allowed but I am not certain.

here is how i submitted to my first assignment:

docx and doc, although I did use a comma in the assignment, this was the saved document. 

next 

docx ,doc this is how I entered in the assignment file restrictions. Saving appears to move it over a bit. Anyway will this work.

Just want to make sure its exactly correct so there is no issue with my assignment submissions. Being a former Blackboard user, quirking things happen if a character is out of place, as you know.

as far as I know spaces are not an issue.  however I always put the extensions in without spaces.  You can always try a submission under student view to see if the space has any affect.  

If Canvas moves it or adds a space then I guess the space would be okay.

Yes it works, Did a test in a closed course.  Great feature, especially when standardization is so important as an instructor.
