See all assignments for 2 students side by side. Is this possible?

I wish that there was a way to hop from one submission to another for a single student.

Then the next feature that I would request is to have submissions of two students appear side by side.

Sometimes I want to compare their work.

In fact, having a thumbnail of every student for a particular assignment would be great.

In Speedgrader, there should be a drop down in the top right corner to switch between submissions for a single student. It will have the header: Submission to view. For seeing two student submissions side by side, the easiest way to do that is to open the speed grader again in another window and split the screen to show both at the same time or if you use a second monitor, put a student's submission on each monitor. I end up doing that if I need to compare.

Those are good tips, @RachelSalmon. I have taken similar steps when reviewing submissions. I think @TravisBower1 is looking for something built into Canvas though.

I don't want to see all the submissions for one particular assignment.

I want to see the submissions for all the assignments.  In other words I want to see as thumbnails assignments 1-5, for example.  I want to see if they are turning in blank assignments or their assignments are in blue ink and are exactly the same as some other student.  [students turn in pdf's for their math class].

Or during a conference I want the student to see that they only do the first 3 problems and leave the rest blank---and that has been for the last 10 assignments!  and to do this all in one glance--all on one page or something that I can scroll through.

@TravisBower1, if you want to request this functionality, you would need to submit it as an idea.

The only way that I know of to do what you are trying to do is it:

1. go into the "People" area of the course, pull-up the context card for a student (described at How do I view a context card for a student in a course?), and from the context card right-click on "Grades" and tell it to open that in a new web browser window (it is also possible to do something similar from the "Grades" area of the course but I typically do it this way)
2. from the new web browser window, you will have a list of all of the assignments, and if you right-click on each assignment and open it in a new tab (within the same web browser window) you can go from one assignment submission to another (each web browser tab) for the same student

I know that this is not the same experience as what you have described but it is the closest thing that I can currently think of.

Maybe someone else has another suggestion.
