Problem with Accessing Shared Information

Hi everyone,

I am new to using Canvas. I am going on maternity leave soon and my sub will be teaching a class I have never taught before. A fellow teacher offered to share her class resources with me, but when I click the link that she shared with me to get access her resources, it says I am unauthorized to access the information. I am using a free teacher account, could this be why I am running into the problem?

Thanks for posting this in the Canvas Community! 

While I am not entirely sure what sort of link they shared with you, I know that there are some options available for you to get that instructors resources. 

They might need to add you into the course contains the resources that they are trying to share. If you do not have access to the course, this could be why you are getting the unauthorized message. Adding people to courses is relatively easy to do. HERE is a guide you can send them for how to add users to a course. They would most likely want to add you as an instructor. 

If they are trying to share an entire course with you, they could export the course content from the course settings page. They can then email you a copy of that export file, which can be imported into your course. HERE is a guide on how to import the Canvas course Export Package.
