I am an Instructor trying to limit students seeing the names of other students in my particular course.  The course I'm creating requires a high-level of privacy, and I would like to ensure that students cannot see who else is in the class

I've already disabled anything that would allow them to interact within Canvas:

  • Chat
  • Collaborations
  • Discussions
  • People

How do I limit students' views of other enrolled attendees?

Hi @KarinaWest,

You have already covered most of the major ones I can think of.  You may want to either disable announcements or at minimum disable student's ability to reply to announcements as well.  You will also want to avoid doing anything with groups, as that would give students access to a group course shell with a people page enabled.  3rd party app integrations into Canvas could also be problematic, but there are hundreds of apps and we wouldn't know which ones are available to you.  As a final suggestion, make sure you do not do anything with peer reviews, as that could expose info.

Hope this helps.  I'm sure others will chime in if there's anything I didn't think to mention here.
