Importing external calendars into Canvas

It would be nice if we could import external calendars into  the Canvas calendar so that all the org calendar dates could be in one place.

Google, Outlook and other calendars enable inputting a link to an external calendar.

Moodle has this option. See https://docs.moodle.org/311/en/Calendar_import

Does Canvas have this on their roadmap, or would they consider doing so?

I think this would be a wonderful feature to add to Canvas. In fact, somebody has already suggested this in our Community's Idea Conversations area at Import Calendar from ICS File.

Check it out, add your own use-case scenarios and arguments, and rate the idea. If this idea does not work for you, you can also create your own.

Thank you for pointing this out. The ask from that discussion was re importing an ICS.

My ask was for importing an external calendar URL, which can truly facilitate calendar integrations.

Would be nice if they had the ability of using a csv file to upload via SMS that could populate the institution calendar within Canvas

Looks like people have been asking for this feature for 9 years and Canvas hasn't added it yet.

I guess it's another example of where it seems like you should be able to do something simple but Canvas doesn't do it.
