Is grade display on course icons on the dashboard not availalbe through the Web interface? If it is available that way, how does one turn it on? Thanks!

Hi Everyone!
The Grades information on each course tile is a great feature of the Canvas Student app. When I taught, students had 1:1 iPads, and they grew to really like this feature for quick grade checks (though, it could be distracting at times).
While it is not currently built into Canvas's web interface, the Chrome extension is a good starting point. However, there is an ongoing discussion about the need for this feature for Students who rely on the browser. I hope you are able to add a comment to the discussion and rate (star) the idea!
Hello there, @DavidGoldsmith ...
The only option that I am aware of via the Canvas Dashboard is the "View Grades" button on the right-hand side of the screen...as describe here:
The only icons that may display on a course card on the Dashboard are:
Also, I am not aware of any other icon on the left-hand global navigation bar that would take you to an overall grades display for courses that someone is taking via Canvas.
I hope this has helped to answer your question. But, I did not understand your question correctly, or if you are looking for other information, please let us know here in the Community...thanks!
there is an extension for chrome that does what it looks like on the iphone canvas app.

I think there is another app that does that as well, but I cannot find it right now.

I am not so sure I like the idea of Canvas thinking that the majority of the students access Canvas via the Canvas app as compared to a browser. However, that is probably the case from statistics.
It is strange to me that Canvas would supply something basic like the grade on the courses if you use the app, but not on the browser. I would not think that it is not difficult to add that feature to the browser view.
Hi @Ron_Bowman - I don't think that was the rationale at all. I think it was something that the mobile team figured out and implemented ahead of web. It's one of the few things that mobile does that the web experience does not. I am unsure why the grades "overlay" hasn't made it to the web experience yet, but subscribing to the Idea would provide you with updates if/when its picked up by a Project Manager for more exploration.
Just wanted to comment that I second this idea being implemented, would be very useful as a full-time online student.
Just here to second the idea of getting this implemented for the browser. Very handy for our instructors (teachers, trainers) to be able to see OVERALL progress against all enrolments, as well as the learner.
@jozsefdavid - I understand you are (acting) PM for the mobile app - so have tagged you into this question.
It appears that the 'Show marks' setting is an in app - user configured option. We have a difficulty with this because of the weighted approach to assessments that does not use Canvas weighting (for a whole host of reasons including issues in the way Canvas calculates the weightings, complex sets of weightings that have to be calculated in our SRS and university rules that such 'grade calculations' must be undertaken in our SRS).
So in short, the % figure that is being shown on the card is wrong. We need a feature flag to be able to disable it (the opposite to what others seem to be asking for I know!). Is there one which we've missed?
