Is anyone familiar with how Google Assignment LTI designates the Co-Instructor in a course? I'm reaching out here first since Google can be a black hole.
I have a teacher who has created a Google Assignment. When we look at the assignment document> Manage People, the teacher of record who created the assignment is listed as the co-instructor while the co-teacher is listed as the Owner when it should be the other way around. How are these roles getting designated and is there anyway to switch them?

From our testing and experience, it really comes down to which assignment the students access first.
Say you have two teachers in a course and both create Google Assignments. Both teachers are "owners" of the files they selected on the Google Drive side of things. The course gets published and the students can now access the course. The very first student to access a Google Assignment in the course goes to the Canvas assignment created by the "co-instructor", not the teacher of record. That "co-instructor" is now the owner of all Google Assignments for that course now. It really boils down to which assignment is accessed by a student first because that's when the Assignments > course folder is created in Google Drive... for the creator of that assignment.
Pro tip if you haven't seen this page yet. Go to https://assignments.google.com/ca For each user, it shows whether they are an instructor or owner for the course files. Hope this helps.
