I have copied and pasted links for Google Drive Docs, Slides, and Spreadsheets for years into Canvas. I have always had success with changing the Google generate link code from "edit" to "copy" to force students to have to make a copy of the source item instead everyone in that class opening my original from the link.
This morning (Nov 11, 2024), though, each time I try to put a Docs or Slides link with the "copy" modification, it breaks the link in Canvas when students open the module item and try to see the Doc or Slides. Instead of popping out a new tab with the Google link for making a copy, Canvas just says the link is broken with the unhappy face.
How can I put A Google Doc or Slides back into a Canvas module so it automatically prompts students to make a copy of that source again?
Thanks, all.
Peace,

Hi @CharlesKGray,
Just curious before trying anything in Canvas, if you email that link to someone (whether a student, a colleague, or your personal Google/Gmail account) does the link work or is the problem exclusive to Canvas?
