Canvas does not drop the right grade still

Howdy.  Ass. Prof here.  There are many posts on this topic, but none of them apply here.  All you need to see this mistake is have assignments with different point values.  No weights (which was a good guess).

9/10, 10/10, 14/15

It will drop the 14/15.  That leaves you with 19/20 when you should have 24/25.

I think the posts are all overcomplicating it.  Both assignments are short one point, so it appears to drop the rightmost.  (It drops the rightmost on a 98/100 vs 98/100 tie.)

...you have got to be kidding me.  The only thing I have in my post is steps to reproduce.  One of us works for Instructure and should log this as a bug somewhere else if that is what's needed.

I have to agree with you that it is doing it wrong as well.  Based on the linked forum questions, I got to https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Question-Forum/Weighed-Grades-and-Drop-Lowest/m-p/198096 where James very easily explained the formula(or so it seems) that is more or less what is used.  Others have agreed with him once they looked at what was happening.

The explanation there is the quiz that hurts the student the most is dropped by calculating the score based on the remaining quizzes.  in your case as you state 19/20 = 95% and 24/25 = 96% so according to what James posted it should drop the 9/10.  If they are using a test on how many points were lost as part of the algorithm then it is not taking into account how many points were possible on each of the quizzes where 1 point was lost.  

I just checked this out in my playground, and I am seeing what james mentioned.  I cannot duplicate the results you saw even with the same order of assignments and point values(I tried 3 assignments, 3 quizzes and a mix - got the same each time).  My gradebook drops the 9/10 (this was in points based and in weighted)

I guess a call in to Canvas tech support is necessary.  There has to be something that is being missed somehow.

Three assignments
A) 100/100
B) 14/20
C) 5/10

If B is dropped, that's 95.4%.
If C is dropped, that's 95.0%.

Canvas will drop C. That is incorrect.

Well it is definitely interesting that you still see the wrong grade dropped.  I just checked again and below are my results:

 In both cases, the grade that hurts the worst is dropped.  Just out of curiosity, what type of gradebook are you using?  Points? or Weighted?  Not that gradebook type should matter, but something is definitely causing the difference between the way your instance of Canvas operates and the way my instance is operating.  My results are from using a weighted gradebook with 20% to the group the assignments are in.  These are also just regular assignments.
