Hello @pmaida ...

If you are referring to the "Assignments" column that appears at the end of your Gradebook, you can't really get rid of this.  This name is tied to the "Assignments" index page of your course...and specifically the assignment group within the "Assignments" page...which is also called "Assignments".  See the heading "View Assignment Group" in this Guide to see what it looks like.  How do I add an assignment group in a course? - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).  By default, Canvas must have at least one assignment group on the "Assignments" page of your course.  But, you don't have to use the name "Assignments".  For example, you could re-name the assignments group to be called "Quizzes" if you wanted.  Then, when you return to your Gradebook, that "Assignments" column would now be called "Quizzes".

Assignment groups hold assignments.  You can have multiple assignment groups in your course.  For example, you could have three separate assignment groups...one called "Written Essays", one called "Quizzes", and another called "Graded Discussions".  In this way, you can better organize your assignments that you want your students to complete in your course.  If you had these three assignment groups, then you would see columns for each in your Gradebook.  Further, assignment groups let you weight your grades the way you want.  So, for example, you might want your "Written Essays" assignment group to be 60% of the total grade.  You might want your "Quizzes" to be 30% of the total grade, and you would then have your "Graded Discussions" assignment group to be 10% of the total grade...for a total of 100%.  Here's another example: How do I weight the final course grade based on as... - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)

I hope this will help a bit.  Sing out if you have any questions...thanks!
