Am I dreaming? Link to Module no longer brings that module to the top of the scrolled view

There was a time when I encouraged faculty to provide links to entire modules. When someone clicked such a link, the Modules tool would display AND the module that was linked to would be scrolled into view (as an html anchor #).

Today? No.

I believe the RTE is not building the proper link when selecting a module from the "Add course link" drawer.

Indeed, the RTE builds a link that reference the module:

https://{inst}.instructure.com/courses/{course_id}/modules/{module_id}

...which displays the Modules tool, scrolled to the top.

Instead, it should build a link like this:

https://{inst}.instructure.com/courses/{course_id}/modules#module_{module_id}

...which sometimes behaves as I initially expected -- display the Modules tool with the view scrolled to where the module shows.

If I'm not imagining things, I'll open a bug ticket.

The sometimes that I mention above seems to be related to whether or not the Modules tool is already displayed. Using the link design that should work (with the #): first visit brings one to the top of the Modules tool, but enter the URL again and it scrolls to the chosen module. A refresh of the initial link (which is still accurate) doesn't work. Hitting [Enter] on the URL does.

Hey @aaron_bahmer!

I just tested this in one of my courses and the module link worked as expected.  I used the course link icon in the RCE to create a link on a page to a specific module.  When the link was clicked by the instructor and a student, the module that was linked to appeared at the top of the module page.

Can you post the structure of the URL that was created?

I will keep looking for reasons why ours doesn't.
