Hello all,
I would like to add bits of text to my modules - just plain text, not as a header in the module or a link to anywhere. My students have a mix of electronic and physical course materials and I would like to list all of the materials there. So, I would add something like "Smith Chapter 7" as plain text within the module.
Other things I tried:
Creating an empty external URL with "Smith Chapter 7" as the text displayed. The problem with this is that it might confuse students, as it allows them to click it and then just goes to a broken link within Canvas.
Creating a text header and just indenting it within the main header for the section. The problem with this is that the font size throws off the look of the module and makes it look like the items that follow are sub-items to this 'heading.'
Creating a page that describes the physical material and then I could just link to it in every relevant module; however, I would want to have one page on the "Smith (2003)" book and I would want to link to it as "Smith Chapter 3" in this week's module, "Smith Chapter 4" in next week's module, and so on. The problem: I was not able to change the page link text so that it appears differently in each module and I did not want to create a separate page for every section of every physical book my students have to read this semester.
I'm hoping that I'm overthinking this and it's a simple functionality that I've overlooked. Thanks in advance for any help.

So, when you use the "+" to add content to a module you are just adding a link to a single document. If you add the link more than once and edit one of them you're not editing a copy you're editing the original.
Using Duplicate and then editing means having many pages...
Could you put multiple reading assignments with a hyperlink link and due date on a single page? You would loose the ability for individual readings to show up on the Canvas calendar- but it's less page creation...
