Canvas Student Release Notes (Android 7.0)
In Canvas Student 7.0, the Discussion and Announcement Redesign and Offline Mode are supported.
Canvas Android app version updates are distributed in a phased rollout, which distributes the update to all users over time. The features in these notes may not immediately be available as an update in the Play Store. The Canvas Student Android app requires Android 8.0 or later.

Discussions
Support for Discussions and Announcement Redesign
When the Discussions and Announcement Redesign feature option is enabled, students can participate in discussions and announcements using the enhanced discussions interface.
Discussion Redesign Inline View
In Discussions, students can expand and collapse all threaded replies in the default Inline view [1]. To switch to View Split Screen, tap the View Split Screen button [2].
Split Screen Discussion Thread
In the Split Screen view, threaded responses open in a separate view.
Announcement Redesign View
In Announcements, students can expand and collapse all threaded replies in the default Inline view [1]. To switch to View Split Screen, tap the View Split Screen button [2].

Offline Content
When enabled, students can sync course content to view as read-only when offline.

Dashboard Options Menu
In the Dashboard, tap the Options icon.
Manage Offline Content Option Link
Then, tap the Manage Offline Content link.
Offline Content Course Selections
Students can tap the Select All link [1] or select individual courses [2]. Then, tap the Sync button.
Sync Offline Content Confirmation
A confirmation message displays with the approximate storage needed to sync content. Then, tap the Sync button.
Offline Content Progress Bar
In the Dashboard, a progress bar displays during the sync process.

When offline, only synced courses are available for viewing.
Settings Offline Sync
In Settings, students can Enable Auto Content Sync [1]. Once enabled, students can determine the Sync Frequency [2] and Sync Content Over Wi-Fi Only [3].
