[SIS] Grade Scheme not institutionally lockable with "letter grade" assignment option

Problem statement:

Currently our institutional imports a specific grade scheme from our SIS (student information system - banner) for each course. These schemes are mandated by the university and "should not" be able to be changed at the course level or by users/instructors. Currently, with the ability to create an assignment using "letter grade", the feature enables instructors/course content users to select any grade scheme or create their own. In our case, this is contrary to the institutional policy and we (as Admins) have no way to lock the feature to ensure they are using the assigned course grade scheme We would like the ability to lock course grade scheme at the system level and when this assignment feature (letter grade) is selected, it is based on the already assigned scheme we set for the course. Appreciate any input or work around suggestions the community has.

Proposed solution:

We would like the ability to lock course grade scheme at the system level or permission level and when this assignment feature (letter grade) option is selected during creation, the system will not allow users to use anything other than the already assigned scheme set for the course when created. Appreciate any input or work around suggestions the community has.

User role(s):

admin,instructor

We currently have a ticket open (#10861673) with Canvas Support who have advised the following:

We worked with our next level of support and they confirmed that there isn't a way to lock the Grading Scheme from teachers. Nor were they aware of this being a feature in the past. This permission is linked to the ability to grade students and cannot be disabled without also removing the permission of teachers to grade students.

If you would like to see this feature added in the future you can share your ideas with us here when it reopens for new ideas. Thank you for sharing.
