[New Quizzes] Increased Visibility of Item Banks Across Institution
Our institution used item banks for migration to New Quizzes, but visibility issues were identified upon launch. Course-level roles couldn't access edit permissions for item banks, and they were shared institutionally. Even when viewing the Speedgrader, the bank is listed nowhere on the screen, making it a “needle in a haystack” to try to find the question in the bank. Teachers struggled to access specific questions, and access was hidden behind the "Build" button. Item banks couldn't be duplicated, making it difficult to manage large volumes of questions. Despite their importance, item banks are not scalable at an institutional level. With thousands of item banks and a catalog of 115 courses, granting institution-wide access to manage item banks seems excessive.
The current solution is minimally viable, but it would be better to have the default permission for editing content in assessments, rather than sharing thousands of banks across the institution. It seems as though default permissions should allow a designer to edit both an assessment and the item banks linked to that assessment without requiring the manual sharing of every bank with every developer.
