[Credentials/Badges] View of Badges Earned Elsewhere

Problem statement:

Canvas instructors need a quick, clean, verifiable way to see which badges students have earned already outside of their class. And students need a clean, clear path for sharing a Badges/Credentials Collection with individual course instructors. Instructors can create a Canvas assignment (or Discussion) where they expect students to go to Badgr and create a Collection and then return to Canvas and share -- but that's make-work for the student; and it doesn't allow the instructor a wholistic view of what students are brining to the table... in their Backpacks 🙂

Our university library teaches hundreds of one-shot workshops each year for students. We also have created dozens of Canvas modules that instructors from all corners of campus import into their classes each term. We award Badges sometimes. Making awarded badges more easily *sharable* and *discoverable* could/would elevate the motivation and benefits exponentially.

Proposed solution:

Add a "Backpack" view to the student landing page. When students enter their Backpack via the LTI, prompt them to build a course-specific Collection by selecting specific badges to share with this specific instructor/class. In the Learner Progress view for instructors, add an "Other Badges" or "Backpack" tab to the "Badges Earned" column. Selecting this new tab would reveal the badges the student opted to share with this Instructor/Class. If the Leaderboard is shared, students could opt in to sharing this collection there too so that students could use it as a tool to find a peer-expert or as an aid in building an infinity group. I've got mockups 🙂
