[Course Settings] Increase Max Range for Points-Based Grading Scheme

Problem statement:

The new Points-Based Grading Scheme appears to be a great feature, and we are excited to take advantage of it; however, the max range / upper limit for this type of grading scheme is 100. There might be a dozen courses in our entire instance of Canvas that operate with a total point value of 100 or less, but those courses, if they do exist, are not created or maintained in a way that uses any of Canvas' features to their fullest capabilities. One of our lead instructional designers commented, "In all my experience I cannot remember one course that had less than 100 points making this wonderful new development inaccessible to most courses." Most of our courses have cumulative point values well beyond 100 points, many of which are 1000 or more.

Proposed solution:

To take full advantage of a point-based grading scheme, especially in courses using gamification, in which attaining as many points as possible is one of the core tenets of gamification, the max range / upper limit needs to be increased substantially (at least to 1000 points), entirely removed, or dynamically adjust to the cumulative number of points available throughout the entirety of the course.

Problem statement:

I have been trying to use a custom grading scheme using points in my course. Unfortunately, support has twice told me the maximum number of points I can use is 100. There are 700 points possible in my course. The 100 limit restricts me from using point schemes. I don't understand the limit as a 100-point course is essentially the same as using a percentage-based scheme.

Proposed solution:

Increase the maximum points possible for point grading schemes. 100 points is way too low for this feature. It could theoretically be infinite - it's just numbers! Thanks!
