Both Announcements and Discussions have the option to *Allow 'liking'*. However, it applies only to the replies not to the original post. In other words, if the option is checked, the people can like the replies, but not the original post. This seems odd, inconsistent and unexpected.
If while creating the original post, the author checks the *Allow 'liking'* box, then it should be possible to "like" the original post as well!
