[Analytics] Improved Discussion Statistics

Problem statement:

Many of our faculty have inquired about additional statistics for the Discussion Boards they would find helpful in teaching their courses, including statistics based on an individual discussion and user. Faculty often have discussion requirements around main posts and replies, and the statistics would greatly inform whether students have met those grading thresholds. 

Proposed solution:

Could the following be added to what can be viewed for specific discussion boards instead of being grouped as Participation in New Analytics?

Overall Discussion Board Statistics

This could be shown as a list of all the discussions with the following information listed in a table format per discussion:

1. Original Posts
2. Replies
3. Average Grade
4. Students Who Haven’t Participated
   1. With the ability to bulk message those students from this view, similar to the “Message Students Who” feature in the Gradebook.

It would also be great if instructors could group discussions by selecting which discussion boards they want to see the statistics for. Some instructors group their discussions and grade them in sections, and would like to see a segmented option for the statistics.

Specific Discussion Board Statistics

Instructors could then drill down further by clicking on the title of the discussion from the table above and view the following information per student in the discussion.

4. Number of Posts Unread
5. Views from other Students
6. Word Count 6. Character Count
7. Number of Attachments
8. Earliest Post
9. Most Recent Post
