[Accessibility] Filter out broken links in unpublished content in the link validator

Problem statement:

Currently there is no way to filter out the results of the link validator to not include broken links that appear within unpublished content. One use case for this is if there is a course where an instructor keeps unneeded/unused items unpublished rather than deleting them outright. In this situation it would be helpful to be able to filter out any links in such content in the validator so that we're only seeing broken links in published content; since unpublished content isn't actually being used in the course we would not be concerned with broken links there.

Proposed solution:

Add a checkbox in the link validator that says something like "Hide links in unpublished content". In some use cases this makes it so that it is not necessary to spend extra time sifting through the content being flagged to decide what is relevant and what is not.

hi @Isobel_R -

In the How do I validate links in a course? guide, there is a section that includes an image of the Showing Links in Unpublished Content option. By unchecking the box, you should only view content that is in published content.

Would that work in your use case?

@KristinL unfortunately no, because that checkbox is actually called "show links to unpublished content" rather than "show links in unpublished content". Broken links in unpublished content will appear in the validator results regardless of whether that box is checked or not.

Ah, yes. That makes sense! Thank you @Isobel_R for clarifying!
