How can I add Sound Cloud to Canvas for School of Sound and Media Communication? The School representative provided the following feedback: Sound Cloud allows an audio file to be displayed as a real-time overview, with a progression marker. It also allows the annotation of this overview. It makes assessment and feedback directly within the Canvas environment absolutely seamless.
What are my best options to integrate Sound Cloud in Canvas?
1. Should I embed Sound Cloud into a Canvas Page:
<p><iframe src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/users/95506900&color=%23ff5500&aut..." width="100%" height="300" allow="autoplay"></iframe></p>
2. Should I add through Add App in Course>Settings>App
To configure URL I can't find the XML file it requires to add to Canvas. Where is the config.XML file made available for users?
3. Do I need an LTI?
How can I find/build a Sound Cloud LTI for Canvas? If its not available then can I build this LTI in javascript?
Sound Cloud have very interesting information for Sound Cloud Developers.
Any suggestions are most welcome
I would imagine a straight embed is your only option right now since an official LTI integration option created by SoundCloud has yet to be created. LTI would be an interesting thought as it could be used to create podcasts and also allow students to submit online assignments to be hosted in SoundCloud.
I'm wondering if you've seen this: https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/8746-soundcloud-integration ?
I have seen thisSoundCloud integration! . I was looking for a more generic solution similar to Youtube in Rich Text Editor (RTE). I think LTI would be a good solution.
If you look inside that thread there's a link to someone's attempt at doing this:
Hi Jeffrey,
thank you very much for pointing that out. I had checked that link in github earlier, to deploy an LTI editor tool in Canvas. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with either ruby or yml. So, I was a bit clueless with that bit. The reason why, I asked for JScript help.
Embedding SoundCloud is fast and easy! In addition to embedding individual sound files, you can embed playlists.
Here's a playlist of an audiobook I made for my students.
