Remove "Dash" [-] from Graded Discussion Box

Does anybody know of a way via CSS or JS to remove the "dash" that appears within the grade box for a graded discussion? The dash did not always use to be there and I'm not sure when it appeared but it has been sometime this year I believe. It used to be blank and I would love to have it blank for our instance again. I've attached a screenshot below to show the area about which I am talking.

The dash is also viewable in the gradebook, indicating a null grade. 

If you feel that this should be changed I recommends submitting an idea to Canvas.

But I don't want to get rid of it in the grade book; only here. Thus my question as to the possibility of doing this via CSS or JS.

Hi @canvas_admin,

I'll move this over to the Developers Group to see if anyone there has ideas.  I feel like having consistency with the gradebook is overall a good thing, so I personally like seeing the dash.  I worry that trying to customize that might actually cause grading events to unintentionally happen, but someone with more knowledge than me may be able to come up with a workable solution for you.
