Hiding Grader role in +people for non-FERPA trained students.

Hi, All,
We are hoping that possibly Javascript/CSS might be able to show/hide the Grader role from an instructor so that only FERPA trained students would be able to be assigned that role. Our idea is to use our unused 'bio' field in Users to add FERPA attribute (indicating the user has gone through FERPA training.) This field would be filled out via an SIS feed process from our FERPA training table. Perhaps CSS/Javascipt can be used to check that attribute as a criteria for visibility of that role.
Has anyone done something similar -- I know CSS/Javascript can be used to 'hide' roles but not sure if it can be used for this user case?
