Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hello,
I've used Respondus in conjunction with Canvas dozens of times and never had any issues. Now, suddenly, I'm getting the "The importer couldn't determine the correct answers for this question" message on each question I upload for a particular course:
Within Respondus, however, all correct answer choices are showing:
All of my settings are exactly set to what I've always used with no issue. Does anyone have any insight into this?
Thank you!
Nick
Hi @nicholas-cheval - It appears that you are exporting the zip (QTI) file from Respondus and then importing it into Canvas. Just out of curiosity, have you tried (within Respondus) going to the Preview & Publish tab and then the Publish Wizard and publishing directly to your Canvas server? That's the only way I've ever tried doing this from within Respondus. I just tried pushing out a sample 3-question MC quiz from Respondus to our own server at my institution and did not run into any issues, but then again I'm a Canvas admin so I likely have higher rights. Have you checked in with anyone at your institution? You may have to file a case with Respondus if nothing has changed on your end.
Hello there, @nicholas-cheval ...
I am reviewing older questions here in the Canvas Community, and I happened to come across your question. I wanted to check in with you because I noticed that we've not heard back from you since you first posted your question on April 23, 2019. In reviewing the feedback that you received from @kblack a day later, I would have to agree with him. I think you'll find that using the steps he outlined, you'll have much better success in uploading those questions all at once into a Canvas course. And, to be honest, I've never tried uploading questions the way that you've described...so I can't really say if I would get similar errors. So, give Ken's suggestion a try, and hopefully that will work for you. Once you do that, if you feel that Ken's feedback has helped to answer your question, please click on the "Mark Correct" button next to his response. But, if you're still looking for help from Community members, please post a note below. For the time being, I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered" because we have not heard back from you and because there hasn't been any new activity in this topic for almost seven months. However, that won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions and/or comments below that are related to this topic. I hope that's alright with you, Nick. Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
I still have this question. I realize that Canvas is very limited compared to Blackboard and D2L, unable to handle most of the simple things that those programs can take care of easily, but after importing hundreds of questions using the OP's process without any trouble at all Canvas has suddenly stopped being able to handle it. It seems to me that just "find another method" is an inappropriate answer for why a feature is no longer working.
