Turn off timer for special education student?

Can the timer be turned off for 1 student in a class of 20?  This Special Education student receives untimed quizzes and tests.  Any help is appreciated.

Hi  @melissaevinger3  Welcome to the Canvas Community!

Two ways that you can make this work:

1. Create a copy of the Quiz, remove the time-limit from the copy, and assign that copy just to the accommodated student. If you go this route, don't forget to exclude the accommodated student in the original quiz. How do I assign a quiz to an individual student? 
2. Use the Moderate Quiz feature to add so much extra time to the accommodated student's attempt to essentially change it to unlimited time. https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13053-4152276279 This may run afoul of your access policies, in that the student will still see there is a time limit, albeit a very long one.
