Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Is it possible to take a picture while submitting an assignment directly from Canvas. I have seen videos that its possible through the app. Is there an option when selecting a file to upload that it access the laptop camera to take a quick snapshot instead of take a picture and searching the computer for that image.
Solved! Go to Solution.
PIcture, no. But video, yes. Set up the assignment with a submission type of Media Recording. This submission type will access their camera to record video and you could just ask them to record a 1 second clip or something instead of an image.

Sadly, this is not a solution.
But WHYYYY can't they?? I would love to be able to have the kids snap a quick photo of their work and download as a jpg or png to add to add to our next lessons as examples. Much more challenging when they are videos. It seems an easy thing to add to the submission options. There's even a way to add pictures to this very post. Please consider adding this to the options of ways to submit assignments.
I agree 500000%! When you are looking for specific things in a student's work, like periods in the right place, it is nearly impossible in a video without trying to pause it in exactly the right place, let alone have kids stay still long enough to have it in focus. This is one thing that makes Canvas so hard to use as a primary teacher.
