Hello there, @drs02040 ...
I am reviewing some of the older questions here in the Canvas Community, and I came across your question. I thought I would check in with you because I noticed that you haven't received any responses to your question since you first posted it on September 4, 2019. You may have stumped the Community with your question. Have you been able to find any solutions on your own since September that you'd be willing to share with us here in this topic? Or, are you still looking for some help with your question? In reviewing your question, it is true that the "Discussions" index page (where you can quickly see the number of replies and how many unread replies you have to view) cannot be set as the "Front Page" of your course. And, if you set your "Modules" page as your "Front Page", that doesn't really help, either, as the "Modules" page does not display the number of posts/number of unread replies. This might be a good opportunity for you to submit a Feature Request here in the Community asking to have an additional option of the "Discussions" index page be the "Front Page". Here are some documents to look through:
For the time being, I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered"...not because we've necessarily found an answer for you, but more because we've not heard back from you and because there hasn't been any new activity in this topic for over five months. However, that won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions and/or comments below that are related to this topic. I hope that's okay with you, David. Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
