Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Just testing out the new content editor - it seems it is no longer possible to use an image as a link??? You are required to enter text before you can save any changes and this simply overwrites the image - please tell me that isn't intentional???
Ok it looks like you cannot edit an existing hyperlink on an image - because it requires you to enter text - but if you remove the hyperlink and start from scratch it works. But you also cannot use ctrl+c to paste into the hyperlink edit box - as soon as you select all the text to overwrite the window closes...
Ok after further testing it seems the issue is - if you select all of the text to replace and you accidentally release the mouse button slightly off the pop up box - the box closes - this is very easy to do and there is only a small space between the edge of the text box and the window itself - releasing the mouse button off the pop up box shouldn't act as though you clicked off the box surely?
Hi @anthony_sales1 Thanks for posting the updates to your original question. I realize that you haven't had the best luck with new feature ideas but I know that Canvas folks do look through all of the questions and appreciate hearing feedback on how to make the experience for users better. This doesn't always involve getting the most votes particularly with newer tools. I have asked for some added functionality and have not had this implemented, and realize that there is only so much time to go around when programming in concerned, but have seen multiple ideas pulled together and implemented when a project is being examined. Another option may be to contact Support and report this as a bug. I do no know this is a bug but it is possible that it isn't functioning as designed and if so a Support ticket is also a way to get something on the radar of the development team.
Just some thoughts, but thanks for posting what you learned!
Hi Tony,
I've found increasingly frequently that this seems to be the norm across programmes these days and it's highly frustrating. My suggestion would be click on the link you want to replace, press ctrl + a to select it then ctrl +v to paste over it. It saves the hassle of accidentally going to far and shutting the pop up box.

Anther very annoying feature of the new RCE is that when you insert a link to something from the right hand pop up list - it disappears once you insert something which means that you have to open the list and navigate all the way back to the same place every time you want to link something. This makes inserting a series of links to a series of items very slow and tedious...
