Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
We have a student who submitted a quiz and says that their complete answer was not captured. I went through the logs and can see when he accessed that specific question and how often it was autosaved. The one thing that might be an issue is that he said he had added a few spaces between sentences and thought if we scrolled down, we would see the whole answer. Has anyone ever seen this kind of behavior in quizzes?
Steve,
We've seen issues similar to what you describe with quiz responses not being correctly captured when a course import runs and overwrites an existing version of a quiz while a student is taking the quiz. Were any course imports run during the time window the student was taking the quiz? The Blueprint course functionality leverages course imports on the back end to copy changes from master courses to the child courses, so that's something to consider as well if you're using that at Kenan-Flagler.

I just was corrected by my team - the behavior we saw with course imports overwriting quizzes is different than the behavior you described. Sorry for the confusion!
Hey Paul:
Hope you are dong well- thanks for looking into it though...
Hello hallmans...
I am reviewing some of the older questions here in the Canvas Community, and I came across your question. We haven't seen much activity in this topic since March 15, 2019. Have you been able to come up with any answers on your own since March that helped to solve this issue? If so, would you be willing to share what you've found back here in this topic? Or, if you are still looking for some help from Community members, please let us know that as well by posting a message below. For now, I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered"...not because we've necessarily found a solution for you...but more because this topic hasn't seen much activity for almost eight months. However, that won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions and/or comments below that are related to this topic. I hope that's okay with you, Steve. Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
I'm not sure if a solution was ever found, but we have been experiencing this with, some of our quizzes that have an essay question or multiple essay questions in the same quiz. I have tried to replicate this, since it happens every once in a while for some of our students. But I have not been able to replicate it. I have tried multiple browsers, I have added extensions, so on and so forth. But to no avail. After speaking with Canvas Support about the issue, they stated it that its something that has been brought up, but they can't pinpoint what is causing this issue.
