I did a quick search and didn't find anything, but has anyone suggested a way to either:
1) Send an Announcement to a specific group from the main Announcement page (and have it show on the course activity feed for that group)
or
2) Have a better way for students in a group to be alerted to a new announcement in their group page besides an email notification.
We have a course that has a couple different groups and they'll receive different announcements, but currently it seems like the only notification they would get would be in their email or text push, and nothing on the Home Page to let them know there's a new group announcement.

By default, Canvas will send your announcement to all sections within your course. To select specific sections for your announcement, click the Post to drop-down menu and select sections from the list provided.
Note: If your course does not have sections, Canvas will still show the All Sections option, and all course users can view the announcement.

An alternative to groups is to just create new sections. For my EC co-taught class we created two new sections (one for EC and one for Standard) then the announcements and assignments can be sent to the exact students you need without having a group that is visible to other students.
I want to send announcements to all members in a particular group. Why is this not an option for us? Yet another example of a feature that clearly should be implemented in canvas but is not.
It is not a "solution" to make up sections, since I my course has 9 sections already and 27 groups. I need to keep a distinction between groups and sections.
